About Me

Compassionate, patient-focused dentistry

Nyah Kara - Foundation Dentist

A compassionate and friendly Foundation Dentist known for creating a calm and positive experience for patients, particularly those with dental anxiety. I take pride in my gentle manner and patient-focused approach, helping patients feel at ease and more confident about their dental care.

I am currently completing my Foundation Training within the Hertfordshire and West Essex scheme, after graduating with a BDS (Hons) from the University of Birmingham. I am gaining experience in a busy mixed NHS practice, managing a wide range of patients including those with complex medical histories and high treatment needs.

I enjoy all aspects of general dentistry and have developed experience in restorative work, endodontics, extractions and dentures. I particularly value building strong relationships with patients and delivering clear, supportive communication throughout their treatment.

I am enthusiastic about continuing to develop both clinically and professionally within a supportive practice environment. I work well within a team, am reliable and organised and always aim to contribute positively to those around me. I am particularly interested in expanding my skills in aesthetic dentistry alongside general practice.

Clinical Portfolio

A selection of cases completed during Foundation Training

Case 1

Patient presented with a fractured UR3 restoration. Pulp was exposed on examination, therefore RCT was carried out followed by the placement of a fibre post. Tooth was prepared for a PFM crown.

Case 2

Patient presented in an emergency with pain from the LR6 tooth with symptoms of symptomatic apical periodontitis. The LR6 RCT was completed and tooth prepared for a FMC crown.

Case 3

Patient presented with a fractured UR4 DO needing replacing. New composite was placed under rubber dam and occlusion checked.

Case 4

Patient presented with an intrusion injury affecting UR3 with associated palatal gingival overgrowth. Patient was concerned about aesthetics. Electrosurgery was carried out to gain access to the pulp chamber, followed by RCT. Composite bonding was used to restore the tooth and re-establish alignment within the arch.

Case 5

Patient presented with a fractured incisal edge on UR1 and a fractured buccal restoration on UL3, and was concerned about appearance. Both were restored with composite.

Case 6

Routine bitewing radiographs revealed interproximal caries between LR6 and LR7. Patient was asymptomatic. A proximal box was prepared within the existing LR6 restoration. Due to the depth of the amalgam, the occlusal portion was retained. Clinical assessment confirmed no caries within the restoration.

Case 7

A partially dentate, severely anxious patient who was unhappy with the appearance and fit of her current denture. An upper partial acrylic denture was made for this patient, who loved the new appearance and comfort of her new denture.

Case 8

Patient presented with a fractured UL2 following trauma while eating, reporting sensitivity to cold. On examination, an incisal fracture was noted with no pulpal exposure and normal sensibility responses. An emergency same-day composite build-up was carried out to restore aesthetics and function. Patient to return for a full examination and further assessment.
